Industrial Shelving Units

Industrial shelving units are most commonly found in metal and wire form, offering great storage systems at a low cost.

Industrial shelving units are designed for the specific purpose of being able to withstand heavier and larger items, such as storage and warehouse items.  You will find that steel and metal shelves are easy to come by, online, as well as at your local department, furniture and home improvement stores and are priced anywhere from about $80 to $200, depending on the styles, designs and manufacturers that you can choose from.  Some of the web sites that I have found that sell metal shelves are www.shelfmaster.com, www.globalindustrial.com, www.easyrack.org and www.shelving-direct.com.  Some local area retailers that you may choose to visit and shop for steel shelves are Walmart, Sears, Home Depot and Lowe’s Home Improvement.

If your purpose for purchasing industrial shelving units is for a storage unit or warehouse, you will want to make sure that you measure the size of the area where you would like to place the shelves.  Shop around for various styles and prices of shelves that you would like to purchase.  Make sure that not only the sizes will suit the needs that you have, but the styles, as well.  For example, if you are storing items to be kept in a climate-controlled environment, such as produce, film products or boxed items, you will want to purchase metal shelves that have wire racks.  Wire racks will accommodate the weight and sizes of the items, as well as allowing the items to “breath”, to avoid “overheating” the contents of the containers, in which the items are stored.

As with anything else that you invest your time and money into, you want to shop around, to find the exact industrial shelving units to suit ALL of your needs.  You will want to make sure that you purchase the exact sizes of metal shelves that you need, as well as the proper and appropriate styles, meaning that the structure of the shelves should be able to completely accommodate all the items that you are planning on storing.  Make sure that you compare prices and if you are purchasing steel shelves used, make sure that the seller is not attempting to sell the shelves and suggested retail or “new” prices; Amazon and E-bay are both very good online web stores to search for and purchase used metal shelves at affordable prices.

I have found that there are also home improvement and warehouse furniture store magazines that you can also search for industrial shelving units in, such as Chicago Home Mag and JCPenney.  Considering the fact that there are, in fact, several different ways and places to shop for metal and steel industrial styles shelves, you will definitely want to take your time, compare prices and styles and don’t merely “settle” on anything, just because the prices seems “right” or you feel that you can’t afford the styles you need.  By taking your time, you will most likely be able to find EXACTLY what you are searching for; staying within the budget that you set your goal to be.
